To promote a happy atmosphere in a safe, secure and stimulating environment, to learn through play, to foster social and personal skills, to accept new adults and situations, to share and care and most of all to have fun.
We are registered with Ofsted, Bucks County Council and the Charity Commission and are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. We are registered to accept 36 children each session and receive nursery education funding for 3 and 4 year olds in accordance with DFEE regulations. 2 year old funding will only be by referral from Bucks County Council. Funding will commence the term after the third birthday. All children have an entitlement to five 3 hour funded sessions weekly, but this cannot be guaranteed within this setting due to space/waiting list restrictions. Parents can split funded session between two providers. DFEE requirements stipulate that we provide 38 weeks of funded education.
The playgroup is run in Taplow Village Centre, a quiet and safe environment located on the village green with ample parking. We offer two main indoor play areas and an outdoor area adjacent to the village green, weather permitting. This rural setting means that children often take advantage of good weather to play or picnic on the grass after playgroup.

We have regular staff meetings to give all staff input into our curriculum and the chance to discuss children's progress. We fully comply with the government set equal opportunities employment policy.
Our key worker system gives staff particular responsibility for a small number of children. The key worker will meet you and your child in advance of starting in our group, to help ease the settling in period. Key workers will maintain links with parents of their designated children through shared record keeping, to include comfort cards, post settling in review sheet, health and development issues and known allergies, and will ensure that all children are helped to reach their full potential. Key workers will liaise termly through review sheets. Parents can ask to view their child's file and discuss progress. Scrap books are available to view daily.
Morning sessions run from 9.15am - 12.15pm Monday to Friday and afternoon sessions run from 12.15pm - 3.15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Very occasionally outings or special events may mean the children may be at playgroup outside these times. Terms times are broadly in line with South Bucks Schools and are a minimum of 38 weeks per year.
In accordance with our constitution we are a staff and committee run group and all new parents are invited to join our committee. A full list of current members is available on request. 60% of our committee will be parents with children currently within the group.
